James,
Great article with a thorough response to the question of "overkill". Airtight construction really is the biggest challenge for builders, but totally doable. We just completed our first blower door test on the 300sf Mini-B backyard cottage. It passed! That is with student builders on a small, higher surface area to floor area ratio home. If they can do it, so can the fine craftsman we have in the NW and elsewhere.
Thanks,

James, good post. Please continue with promoting Passive House Standard.
I would like add, that when calculating an investment into passive home, one shouldn't just calculate todays energy costs, but should take into consideration future energy costs, which are (probably) going to be much higher.
